On August 29, 2005 Hurricane Katrina struck the coast of Louisiana causing catastrophic damage to the New Orleans area. Mustard Seed Ministries was founded as a direct response to the call for help coming from the estimated 300,000 displaced families. We are a non-profit organization based out of West Michigan that helps rebuild the houses lost in the storm. Our mission is to help restore homes and lives.
Mustard Seed Ministries operates the New Orleans Mission House just outside of the city so we can house volunteers and work on projects year-round. When beginning a project, we take a referral from a local agency or church. We then gather a team of volunteers to provide basic home repair services.
Unfortunately, there are thousands of homes that still need repair. There is a tremendous need for volunteers to assist in this area. Mustard Seed Ministries is about wrapping our arms around as many people as we can that were hurt by the storm and restoring lives one home at a time.
Please answer the call to serve those in need in New Orleans. We would love to have you join our team on a project and take part in the fellowship of our group. We like to facilitate other mission teams as well. If you belong to a church or organization that would like to organize a trip, please contact us about using the New Orleans Mission House to help facilitate your stay. We can assist you with finding a project or agency to work with in the area. Please see our stay [hyperlink] page to learn more about the New Orleans Mission House.
